4C30.1 Boiling by Cooling

[Setup Time: 15 Min.] [Current Condition: Unavailible]

Info

NOTE: several things can go wrong during this demonstration, including broken glass and hot water splashing. I STRONGLY advise doing 4C30.2 Boiling at Reduced Pressure instead.

Setup Instructions

1. Water in a round-bottomed flask is heated until boiling

2. The flask is removed from the heat, stoppered, inverted, and cold water is poured over it, lowering the pressure inside and causing the water to boil again.
